U.S. DEPUTY ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF STATE
B. LYNN PASCOE TO VISIT AZERBAIJAN
Baku, November 13, 2003
The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce that Deputy Assistant
Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs B. Lynn Pascoe will
visit Azerbaijan on November 17, 2003. During his visit he plans
to meet with senior Azerbaijani government officials, political
party leaders, and representatives of civil society.
A Career Minister in the Senior Foreign Service, Ambassador Pascoe's
areas of responsibility include countries in the Eastern Mediterranean,
the Caucasus, and Central Asia. Ambassador Pascoe served most
recently as American Ambassador in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Ambassador
Pascoe earlier served as the U.S. Special Negotiator for Nagorono-Karabakh
and Regional Conflicts and the U.S. Co-Chair of the Organization
for Security and cooperation in Europe's (OSCE) Minsk Group, and
has also served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in
the East Asian and Pacific Bureau of the State Department, Deputy
Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, Deputy Executive
Secretary of the Department of State, and Special Assistant to
the Deputy Secretary of State.
In over three decades in the Foreign Service, Ambassador Pascoe
has held positions on the Soviet and China desks, and been posted
to Moscow, Hong Kong and Bangkok, as well as to Beijing twice,
Taipei and Kuala Lumpur.
