The Embassy of the United States of America expresses its deepest condolences on the death of former president Heydar Aliyev. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to the people of Azerbaijan in this time of sorrow. His many years of leadership and public service to Azerbaijan were an example to all of us. He was a great friend to our country. The strong relations between our two nations were a monument to his achievements and will not be forgotten.
