Bombings in Istanbul

The United States strongly condemns the new wave of terrorist attacks in Istanbul today, November 20. We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to all victims and their families, both Turkish and British. I have personally expressed our condolences to Foreign Secretary Straw and Foreign Minister Gul. We have offered any assistance needed to respond to these attacks and to find the perpetrators. Turkey and the United Kingdom are among our strongest partners in the global war against terrorism. We will continue to work together to fight terrorism and prevent more loss of innocent lives.
